Even if you’re not a carpenter, chances are very good that you have heard the phrase, ‘Measure Twice, Cut Once.’ It reminds me of time spent in the garage with my dad or my grandfather. Those garage projects were mostly putting some object together, or building something for fun or for our house.
I try to do carpentry in my spare time, but it’s never going to be as good, as fast or as efficient or as my neighbour who is actually a journeyman carpenter. They also have more and better tools to do a variety of tasks and is trained on the best way to use those tools.
The sentiment is the same in recruiting and talent acquisition. This sounds self-serving for sure, and it may be, but that’s what makes it worthwhile to use a professional recruiter.
